NPF warns against misconduct, urges public to report corrupt officers

The Nigeria Police Force has expressed concern over the persistent unprofessional conduct of some of its officers, which continues to undermine the integrity and reputation of the institution. Despite repeated warnings and disciplinary measures, certain officers have reportedly engaged in actions that erode public trust in law enforcement.

In a statement released on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police highlighted the alarming trend of fraudulent activities involving the misuse of the name and office of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

It noted that such actions are designed to intimidate victims into believing the IGP endorses these illegal activities, thereby discouraging them from seeking redress through proper channels.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism,” the statement read.

“We urge members of the public to report any misconduct by police officers to their superiors, state Complaint Response Units (CRUs), or the Commissioner of Police in their respective states. Contact details for CRUs have been made publicly available.”

To safeguard against fraudulent claims, the public has been advised to exercise caution when approached by individuals alleging connections with the IGP or other senior officers. Such cases should be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
