The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) heats up this weekend as matchday seven gets underway, promising exciting encounters across the country.
The weekend opens with two fixtures: Bendel Insurance hosting Nasarawa United at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, and El-Kanemi Warriors welcoming Kano Pillars to Maiduguri. Fans can expect a competitive start as teams battle for crucial points early in the round.
Kwara United of Ilorin and Abia Warriors, returning from their recent exits in the CAF Confederation Cup, will clash in what is set to be one of the most intriguing matches of matchday seven on Sunday. Both sides are eager to refocus on domestic success after midweek continental disappointments.
Coaches Tunde Sanni and Imama Amapakabo, still smarting from their CAF eliminations, will look to build on recent victories over Plateau United and Remo Stars, respectively. Their battle in Ilorin promises to be a must-watch contest, with both sides aiming to assert dominance.
The star attraction of the weekend comes in Aba, where Enyimba FC will host Rivers United. The match carries extra significance as Stanley Eguma leads his People’s Elephants against his former club, now managed by ex-Enyimba coach Finidi George, who returns to Aba alongside coach Yemi Olamrewaju. Pride and bragging rights will be on the line in this headline clash.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Shooting Stars of Ibadan will host Plateau United, Barau FC face Warri Wolves, and Kun Khalifat will travel to take on Niger Tornadoes. Bayelsa United will hope to end their poor home form when they welcome Ikorodu City.
With key fixtures lined up and points at a premium, matchday seven promises to deliver drama, excitement, and high-stakes football across the NPFL.
