NPFL clubs chase points in matchday five

By Tosin Omojola –

Only six fixtures will be played this weekend as the NPFL 2025/26 season enters matchday five.

While continental duties have led to the postponement of matches involving Rangers vs. Abia Warriors, Remo Stars vs. Kano Pillars, Kwara United vs. Plateau United, and Barau FC vs. Rivers United, other games will light up the Nigerian top flight.

At the Lekan Salami Stadium, 19th-placed Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) will aim to end their winless streak as they welcome newcomers Kun Khalifat FC of Owerri.

Shooting Stars have lost one and drawn one of their previous two home matches—a development that makes this weekend’s tie a must-win for the team.

In Maiduguri, El-Kanemi Warriors will hope to bounce back to winning ways against Warri Wolves after their 1–3 loss to Ikorodu City last weekend in Lagos.

The Enyimba International Stadium in Aba will host a fixture to behold, as table-toppers Enyimba welcome Bendel Insurance of Benin.

Elsewhere, Niger Tornadoes will entertain Ikorodu City, while Bayelsa United will hope to avoid another home defeat when they play host to Nasarawa United of Lafia.

Meanwhile, the encounter between Katsina United and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi will take place on Monday.
