NPFL: Enyimba suffer third successive defeat, Boboye’s Insurance pick point in Owerri

Former champions Enyimba FC of Aba continued their unimpressive run after losing 2-1 to Plateau United in Jos.

The defeat was the third in a row for the People’s Elephants in the ten-week-old 2025/26 season.

Newly appointed Bendel Insurance of Benin coach, Kennedy Boboye, returned to familiar terrain at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, and left with a point after the Benin Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Kun Khalifat.

Kayode Oke had put Insurance ahead in the first half before the hosts levelled up in the second half.

In Bauchi, Wikki Tourists scored twice in the first half to end the five-match unbeaten run of Shooting Stars of Ibadan, while Abia Warriors returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over FC Barau in Umuahia.

At the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, struggling Rangers International were held to a goalless draw by Kwara United, who secured a second consecutive away draw, having shared the spoils with Wikki Tourists penultimate weekend in Bauchi.

Warri Wolves defeated Bayelsa United 2-0, putting the technical crew of the Yenagoa-based side under pressure after being handed a two-match ultimatum by the club’s management.

On Friday, Katsina United defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 1-0, while Kano Pillars lost 0-2 at home to Niger Tornadoes in Saturday’s only fixture.
