Live radio commentary of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches is set to return to the network service of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), following a strategic partnership facilitated by NPFL’s investment partners, GTI Asset Management and Trust Limited.

GTI’s Head of Media and Publicity, Andrew Ekejiuba, confirmed the development after the successful signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between both parties during the week in Abuja.

Speaking at the signing, the Director General of FRCN, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, described the partnership as a timely intervention in the growth of Nigerian football.

“It is to put Nigerian football on an upward trajectory that the NPFL and FRCN are entering into this strategic partnership aimed at bringing back live radio football commentary. Radio Nigeria is committed to leveraging its expertise and resources to make this venture successful, recognizing that investing in the revival of live football commentary will help rejuvenate domestic leagues and rekindle the passion that once united Nigerians through sports,” Dr. Bulama stated.

NPFL Board Chairman, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye, hailed the partnership as a game-changer that would further enhance the league’s popularity both within Nigeria and beyond.

“This collaboration, which is largely a corporate social responsibility effort by Radio Nigeria, was agreed upon due to their extensive reach and long-standing reputation,” he said.

Also present at the event was the Executive Director of GTI Group, Mr. Nelson Ine, who commended both parties for reaching an agreement that will add value to the growing NPFL.
