By Tosin Omojola –
Ikorodu City of Lagos continue to make a bold statement about their resolve to capture the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title this season after shocking former champions Enyimba FC 1-0 in Aba.
Joseph Arumala’s brilliantly taken first-half goal was all that made the difference as the struggling People’s Elephants were stunned right in front of their home fans.
The win kept the Oga Boys at the top of the table, further boosting their push for the league title.
Former champions, Rangers International, also continued their impressive run of form with a 2-0 win over Wikki Tourists, while in Maiduguri, coach Gbenga Ogunbote suffered his first defeat since taking over at Plateau United, following a 1-0 loss to El-Kanemi Warriors.
Bendel Insurance left supporters of Bayelsa United frustrated after holding the hosts to a goalless draw in Yenagoa, just as fans of Kwara United once again returned home disappointed as their team could only manage a 1-1 draw against visiting Kano Pillars FC.
Elsewhere, Shooting Stars defeated Warri Wolves 4-2 in Abeokuta, Remo Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Abia Warriors in Akure, while Katsina United pipped Nasarawa United 1-0.
Sunday’s matches rounded off Matchday 26 hostilities, which kicked off on Saturday, with FC Barau beating visiting Kun Khalifat 1-0.
