NPFL names Itemuagbor marketing adviser

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has appointed Mike Itemuagbor as its special adviser on marketing.
According to the league board, the move is part of efforts to strengthen its financial base.
Itemuagbor, a foremost figure in Nigeria’s sports marketing industry, is the founder of Padmozi Sports Marketing (PSM). He was persuaded by NPFL Chairman, Honourable Gbenga Elegbeleye, to bring his vast experience and corporate network to reposition the league and attract sponsorships.
Announcing the appointment, Elegbeleye said, “The best part of this is that this great marketing mind is going to render his services free of any personal financial reward — it’s pro bono.”
Itemuagbor’s pedigree in sports marketing spans over three decades, during which he worked with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), before founding the famous Okpekpe Mountain Race that attracted some of the world’s best long-distance runners.
He was also instrumental in securing some of the biggest sponsorship deals in Nigerian football, including the renowned Globacom sponsorship of the national teams and the then Nigeria Premier League.
