NSC boss Shehu Dikko, others in attendance as NFF unveils Chelle as Super Eagles’ coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), on Monday, officially unveiled Éric Sékou Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles.

The event was held as scheduled at the Media Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

The former Malian coach was all smiles as he signed the dotted lines to officially accept the enormous task of leading one of the continent’s strongest football side.

Chelle is expected to settle down for business immediately as will be joining the Super Eagles team B in preparation for next month’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) holding in the East African countries of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.

According to the NFF, Chelle will be joining the team on a supervisory role with the duo of Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu expected to continue their coaching roles.

Thereafter, the Malian will shift attention to the main task of leading the Super Eagles through a very difficult campaign for qualofication for the 2026 World Cup.

With Nigeria needong to win all her three remaining mathces to have any hope of qualifying, the Malian will begin the quest in March when he leads the Eaagles to must win fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

The unveiling of Chelle was witnessed by the chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Malam Shehu Dikko, NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, among others.
