The National Sports Commission (NSC) has commended the Super Eagles B team for their impressive qualification for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN). The team secured their spot with a commanding 3-1 victory over Ghana’s Black Galaxies at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, who attended the electrifying match, praised the team’s exceptional performance. Speaking after the game, he said:
“This victory highlights the immense talent we possess as a nation, both at home and abroad. The NSC remains committed to supporting the team and ensuring they are fully prepared to not only compete but excel at CHAN 2025.

“This achievement serves as a foundation for greater milestones, as we strive to create a thriving sports ecosystem that will inspire future generations.”
The Super Eagles B delivered an explosive start, with Ismaila Sodiq opening the scoring in the 18th minute following a brilliant through pass. Just three minutes later, Nduka Junior doubled the lead with a composed finish, while Saviour Isaac rounded off a dominant first-half performance with a third goal in the 25th minute.
Despite a spirited second-half effort by the Black Galaxies, including a consolation goal from Stephen Amenkona in the 71st minute, Nigeria held firm to secure a 3-1 aggregate victory and book their place in the CHAN tournament.
The 2025 CHAN, a competition exclusively for players active in domestic African leagues, will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from February 1 to 28.
Hon. Olopade also noted that this victory serves as a fitting conclusion to Nigeria’s 2024 sporting year, showcasing the Super Eagles B team’s potential to compete at the highest level in the upcoming tournament.
