Administrative planning has begun to revive Nigeria’s struggling campaign in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

A strategic meeting was held in Abuja on Tuesday, where the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) provided updates on the upcoming qualifiers to the National Sports Commission (NSC).

Receiving the updates, NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko emphasized the need to ensure the Super Eagles secure the highly coveted ticket to the FIFA World Cup 2026.

“The engagements held at the NSC offices focused on preparations for the crucial World Cup qualifiers scheduled for March 2025. The discussions centered on getting Nigeria’s qualification campaign back on track, resolving all outstanding issues affecting the team, implementing a special motivation framework to enhance performance, proposing the PSGWC2026 initiative, leveraging international sports diplomacy, and finalizing plans for the upcoming FIFA Forward Projects in Nigeria,” Dikko explained on his social media platforms.

The NSC chairman also reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to working closely with the NFF and other sports federations to achieve operational excellence.

“The National Sports Commission remains dedicated to engaging with and supporting the NFF, as well as all other sports federations under its jurisdiction, to ensure seamless operations. Our goal is to align with the objectives and vision of the NSC to achieve success,” he added.
