NSC unveils registration portal for Onne Port users

The Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), has unveiled an Online Registration Portal for Service Providers and Port Users operating at the Onne Port in Rivers State.

Executive Secretary of the NSC, Barr. Akutah Pius, MON, while speaking at the launch, disclosed that the new and upgraded online registration portal was designed in line with Shippers’ Council Port Economic Regulation 2015, Part 11, Section 4 (1) which mandates the Council to register all regulated Service Providers and Users operating at the nation’s seaports.

Barr. Akutah, who was represented by the Director, South–South Zone of NSC, Glory Onojedo, while describing the launch as a milestone, noted that the Council’s portal had been upgraded from manual registration to a fully automated registration.

According to him, the registration provides a database of service providers, as well as those of genuine shippers and other stakeholders operating at the ports.

Expressing optimism that the launch of the portal would create a seamless process for registration on the of concerned stakeholders, the Executive Secretary said the Nigerian Shipper’s Council as Port Economic Regulator provides effective registration for the control of tariffs, charges and other related services.
