The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested seven suspects in connection with criminal conspiracy and theft following an incident reported on Thursday, September 5.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Shola Ayoola, on Saturday in Ilorin.

Olusegun Taiwo, a resident of Sango Area, Ilorin, reported to the NSCDC that she was attacked by a group of youths while on her way to work on a motorcycle. The assailants, suspected to be hoodlums, forcefully stole her bag, phones, and other valuables.

Following the report, NSCDC operatives apprehended seven suspects involved in unlawful and violent conduct during a protest by commercial tricycle and motorcycle riders in Ilorin on the same day.

A thorough investigation revealed that the suspects were part of a group of hoodlums responsible for terrorizing and causing unrest in Ilorin, particularly in the Sango area, by engaging in theft, stealing personal belongings such as bags, phones, and other valuables.

NSCDC Kwara State Commandant, Dr. Umar Mohammed, assured the residents of Kwara State that the Command is fully committed to maintaining public order and will continue to take decisive action against any individuals or groups involved in criminal activities that threaten the safety and security of the state.

He added that the suspects would be charged to court for prosecution in accordance with the law.
