The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command has deployed 1,750 personnel to ensure a peaceful Eid-al-Fitr celebration across the state.
These personnel were drawn from the Special Female Squad, Swift Action Response, Anti-Vandalism Unit, Armed Squad, Crisis Management, Intelligence and Surveillance Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives Unit for overt and covert operations.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Igbalawole Sotiyo, directed these personnel to secure prayer grounds and public places such as shopping malls, recreation centers, motor parks, and critical national assets and infrastructure, ensuring the general public enjoys optimum safety during the celebration.
In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, ASC Kehinde Adeleke, Sotiyo charged the personnel to work in synergy with other security agencies in the state and discharge their duties with diligence and professionalism for a hitch-free celebration.
The NSCDC boss reassured the public, especially Muslim faithful and travelers, that the corps would effectively discharge its constitutional responsibility of providing adequate security for lives and critical national assets and infrastructure.
The commandant also urged citizens to be security conscious and report suspicious activities to the nearest security agency.
“I enjoin the good people of Osun State to be security conscious. Please do not hesitate to report suspicious movements by individuals or groups to the nearest security agency,” Sotiyo said.
