The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Osun State successfully foiled a robbery attack and recovered a stolen vehicle from fleeing robbers at Onibu-Eja community, along the Iwo-Ibadan road in Osun State.
In a statement issued by the NSCDC spokesperson, ASC Kehinde Adeleke, on behalf of the state commandant, Michael Adaralewa, it was reported that the incident occurred on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at about 3:25 a.m. A four-man gang of armed robbers had invaded a house in the Onibu-Eja community and stolen a vehicle at gunpoint from a family.
According to the NSCDC commandant, the community immediately alerted the command through a distress call seeking assistance after the robbers had fled the scene.
The statement continued: “Officers of the command on patrol promptly responded and engaged the suspects in a gunfight. Overwhelmed by superior firepower, the suspects abandoned the stolen vehicle and fled.”
The recovered vehicle, a Toyota Corolla, has the chassis number 1NXBU40E49Z005008 and registration number KWL 911 TC, ABUJA. It is currently in the custody of the NSCDC Osun State Command, and a discreet investigation has begun to track down the suspects and ensure they face justice.
Adaralewa commended the officers for their swift and courageous response in thwarting the robbery. He also praised the public for providing timely information and assured that the NSCDC would continue to uphold the trust placed in it by the community.
The NSCDC commandant further warned criminals in the state to desist from illegal activities or be prepared to face the full consequences of the law.
