The Osun State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has suspended five members for calling on local government workers to resume work.

The suspension was announced during an emergency State Executive Council meeting, which included branch chairmen and State Administrative Council members.

The affected members, suspended indefinitely, are Tirimisiyu Adekunle Adedayo (Egbedore LG), Akinkunmi Adepoju (Oriade LG), Iyiola Bamidele (Ilesa East LG), Kehinde Babalola (Obokun LG), and Ayeni Ojo Johnson (Ilesa West LG).

Osun NULGE President, Dr. Nathaniel K. Ogungbangbe, reaffirmed the union’s unity, stating, “NULGE remains a united body without factions.” He clarified that the Association of Concerned Local Government Workers is not a recognized part of the union.

He further stated that the respective local governments and the Local Government Service Commission would be officially informed of the suspensions.

Ogungbangbe emphasized NULGE’s commitment to workers’ safety and warned against unauthorized directives that could jeopardize their well-being.

The suspended members had recently held a press conference as a faction of NULGE, instructing local government staff to resume work immediately.
