Nwabali doubtful for Eagles, Rwanda tie

By Tosin Omojola –
Nigeria may be without first-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali in the crucial World Cup qualifying match against Rwanda in Uyo.
The Super Eagles are set to face the Rwandans in a must-win encounter at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, but the South Africa-based shot-stopper could miss out due to injury.
Nwabali was stretchered off after sustaining an injury while in action for his South African club, Chippa United, against Richards Bay.
The incident occurred in the 35th minute of the game, and though the full extent of the injury was not immediately known, it appeared serious as he had to be helped off the pitch.
Nwabali, who also captains Chippa United, has been Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper since the delayed 2023 AFCON, where he impressed as the Super Eagles reached the final.
He was recently called up for the qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa, alongside Adebayo Adeleye, Amas Obasogie, and Ebenezer Harcourt.
