Oba Ladoja warns Mogajis, Baales against harboring criminals

Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja has warned all Mogajis (family heads) and Baales (village heads) across Ibadan not to harbor criminals within their communities.

Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, issued the warning during the installation ceremony of new Mogajis and Baales held at the Olubadan’s Palace in the Oja Oba area of Ibadan on Monday.

Western Post gathered that a total of 14 Mogajis and eight Baales were installed during the ceremony, which was attended by several traditional title holders and community leaders.

Speaking at the event, Olubadan urged the newly installed leaders and other grassroots authorities to prioritize the safety of their communities, stressing that security remains a collective responsibility.

He noted that insecurity remains one of the major challenges confronting the country and called on community heads to remain vigilant about activities within their domains.

“As family compound and community heads in Ibadan city and surrounding areas, you are aware that one of the greatest challenges facing Nigeria is the issue of security,” he said.

“As grassroots leaders, you need to be vigilant about what is happening in your environment. Security is everybody’s business.”

The traditional ruler emphasized that the installation of Mogajis and Baales carries significant responsibilities beyond ceremonial duties, particularly in maintaining peace and order at the community level.
