Obaseki’s anointed, Ighodalo wins Edo PDP guber primary
In the second parallel primary election in less than 24 hours, Asue Ighodalo has won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial primary ticket in Edo State.
The Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shuaibu had earlier in the day emerged as the governorship candidate of the PDP in a parallel primary election held in the state.
But in the election held at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin city, Ighodalo scored 577 votes, defeating nine other aspirants to emerge as the Edo state governorship candidate of the PDP for the September 2024 election.
Viewed as the preferred candidate of incumbent governor, Godwin Obaseki, Ighodalo trained as a lawyer and also have significant interests in the financial sector.
