Obi declares for president, says I’ll do in Nigeria what I did in Anambra

Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has signified his intention to run for presidency in 2023.

Obi made this known when he visited the Anambra State Traditional Council and President Generals on Thursday.

The 2019 vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, said he told the traditional rulers first because he saw the need to first inform his fathers about his political decision.

According to Obi, with Nigerians already seen what he can do while he was Anambra governor, he promised to translate that when he becomes president.

He also promised to lead a united Nigeria, saying Nigeria at the moment is at its lowest ebb and too divided.

“My job here is simple, I have come to tell you that I am aspiring to be president of Nigeria, after a careful study, Nigeria today is at the lowest ebb, we are too divided.

“I believe that the government I will lead will reunite Nigeria. We need unity and peace for the progress of Nigeria. If I have the opportunity, I will lead well, secure Nigeria, we will attract local and foreign investment that will move Nigeria forward.

“The government I will lead will manage Nigeria resources effectively and efficiently for production; my government will invest in critical areas for development including, education, health and pulling people out of poverty.

“I believe in Nigeria, I want to have a secure Borno State, a secure Sokoto state, a secure Onitsha, I want people in Ibadan to see a country that is growing and I want people in Minna to celebrate Nigeria.

“We did it in Anambra, there is no significant difference between Anambra and Nigeria, what the country needs is people with capacity, competence and willingness to manage resources effectively,” he said.
