Ogun agro cargo airport’s control tower, runway, terminal building, others taking shape, says project manager

The ongoing construction of the Gateway Agro Cargo Airport in Illisan-Remo area of Ogun State is beginning to take shape as the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government intensifies effort to deliver the project in record time.
Senior Project Manager, Mr. Nicholas Mfarrej who conducted the media team of the governor, led by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Alhaji Waheed Odusile round the facilities made this known while speaking with media men after the inspection.
Mr. Mfarrej disclosed that the foundation of the control tower and that of the terminal building are 1.5m into the ground while the 4km run way already asphalted has extra 140m leveled ground on both sides for flight safety noting that the firefighting station, Apron and taxi way are enjoying noticeable progress.
The project manager who revealed that the airport project is sitting on an 8,500 hectares of land with 16km airport fence said over 550 staff from the local community are presently working at the construction site.
On his part, Odusile who appreciated the development said when the project is completed, it will create thousands of job for the teeming youths, men and women affirming that this will indirectly help to eradicate crime and criminality in the society.
Odusile said the airport will boost the economic activities and increase the internally generated revenue of the state, adding that the present leadership will continue to judiciously use tax payers’ money for the benefit of all.
The commissioner reiterated government’s stance that the first aircraft will land at the airport by December.
“We have done everything to ensure that this project is commissioned by the President in December, among other projects,” he said.
