Ogun East APC leaders adopt Abiodun as 2027 senatorial candidate
Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East Senatorial District have endorsed Governor Dapo Abiodun as their consensus candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.
The decision was announced on Monday at a gathering held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode, which brought together party leaders and grassroots representatives from across the district.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Lekan Adeniran, the meeting was attended by members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, current and former lawmakers, local government chairmen, councillors, and party executives at various levels.
Also present were ward chairmen and executives, youth and women leaders, as well as members of the Elders Advisory Council from across the senatorial district.
Speaking at the event, former Ogun East senator, Lekan Mustapha, said the endorsement was based on confidence in Abiodun’s ability to effectively represent the district at the National Assembly.
“Party leaders would formally communicate the endorsement to the governor, including a commitment to purchase his nomination forms for the 2027 election. We will put a body together to deliver this message to our Governor that he has been adopted as the consensus candidate,” he said.
The Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, described the endorsement as unanimous, noting that Abiodun’s record in governance and party unity justified the decision.
Other speakers, including House of Representatives member Femi Ogunbanwo and Sagamu Local Government Chairman Afolabi Odulate, commended the governor’s performance and urged him to accept the senatorial bid.
