Ogun introduces AI-driven teaching, learning platform
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has launched a first-of-its-kind Artificial Intelligence-powered Teaching and Learning Platform, the Ogun Learning Enhancement and Academic Resource Network (OgunLearn), to reposition the state’s education sector for 21st-century learning.
The platform was unveiled at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, where the governor said OgunLearn would provide comprehensive lesson resources and interactive learning support for students, while enabling teachers to plan lessons, access materials and track performance more efficiently.
Abiodun explained that the platform promotes creativity, digital thinking and self-paced learning, while nurturing accountability, analytical thinking and lifelong learning skills among learners, regardless of their background or location.
He described OgunLearn as a product of foresight and innovation, noting that it is designed to prepare children and youths for the future rather than the past, and to modernise teaching and learning across schools in the state.
The governor highlighted other education and skills initiatives of his administration, including the Ogun Skills Fund, Ogun Educash, Ogun Scholar, Ogun-Rehab, Ogun Teach and Ogun-DIPER, which he said collectively represent a deliberate system reform agenda focused on learners, teachers and outcomes.
According to him, OgunLearn is a key component of the state’s Education Digital Transformation Agenda, alongside the Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DIPER), which has improved transparency, efficiency and data-driven decision-making in school administration.
Abiodun also noted that Ogun State has become a national reference point in Technical and Vocational Education and Training and pioneered the Learner Identification System, later adopted nationally as the Examination Learner Identification Number.
He concluded that education remains the strongest legacy of his administration, while the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, and SUBEB Chairman, Barrister Olalekan Ifede, described OgunLearn as a consolidation of the state’s leadership in education innovation and urged teachers to fully utilise the platform.
