Ogun LGAs receive N4.02bn allocation from federation account in July-Okubadejo

The 20 local government areas in Ogun State received N4,029,228,858.12, as their share of the statutory allocation, which include Value Added Tax (VAT) and Exchange Gain from the Federal Allocation for the month of July.
This was made known at the July 2022 edition of the Joint Account Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting, at the Conference Hall, Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta by the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo.
Presenting the breakdown of the allocation, Okubadejo, represented by the Permanent Secretary and Accountant-General/State Treasury, Mr. Babatunde Aregbesola said N4,337,539,229.80 was required for the payments of first-line charges, such as Primary School Teachers’ Salary, Local Government Staffs’ Salary, Pensions, Traditional Councils and other charges, noting that N308,310,371.68 would still be needed to meet up with the gross payment.
Okubadejo explained that irrespective of the shortage, the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun had directed that the gross payment of the local government workers’ salary should be paid, effective from July 2022.
In his address, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun implored all labour leaders to galvanise their members to generate more revenue and other resources into the government coffers and ensure that all loosed ends were worked upon.
In his remark, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) and Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ayuba Olatunji and Akinola Abiodun respectively, appreciated the state government for its relentless effort to ensure the prompt payment of workers’ salaries.
