Ogun: Man drowns while attempting to retrieve phone from well

The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 31-year-old man, Sunday Jimoh, who drowned while trying to retrieve a phone from a well in Oja-Odan, Yewa North Local Government Area.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by CSP Omolola Odutola, the Police Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. on February 22.
It was reported by a witness, Kabiru Aladeshayi Ayigbere, a resident of the Junction Area in Oja-Odan, who saw Jimoh attempting to enter the well beside his shop. Despite warnings about the danger, Jimoh insisted on retrieving the fallen phone.
Tragically, while Aladeshayi was away, Jimoh entered the well and drowned.
Upon receiving the report, police detectives swiftly arrived at the scene and called in rescue experts to recover the body. A preliminary investigation found no signs of violence, confirming it was an accident.
The deceased’s family was notified, and they requested to bury him according to Muslim rites.
The Ogun State Police Command extended its condolences to Jimoh’s family and urged the public to exercise caution when dealing with hazardous situations.
