A green and white lorry loaded with timber, with registration number LAGOS BS 385 KJA, was involved in the accident.

The vehicle was driven by 71-year-old Wakilu Tanfeku of Oke Alafia Street, Ijebu-Igbo. The lorry collided with an unidentified Bajaj motorcycle carrying two male passengers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcycle, traveling in the same direction as the lorry, attempted to overtake from the driver’s side. The rider lost control, causing the motorcycle to crash.

Upon receiving the report, officers from the Motor Traffic Division swiftly arrived at the scene to manage traffic and begin investigations. The deceased’s body has been transferred to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital morgue for an autopsy, while authorities are working to recover the lorry for inspection by the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO).

Affirming that further updates will be provided as investigations continue, the police urged motorists to exercise caution while overtaking, and to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent further tragedies.
