Police arraign blogger over alleged false accusations against Ogun State govt

The Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge before the Federal High Court in Abeokuta against a social media blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as @justadetoun, over alleged cyberbullying, false accusations and other offences under the Cybercrimes Act.

The command explained that the charges stem from a series of online publications allegedly targeted at the Ogun State Government and the state governor.

According to the police, Onajobi was invited on January 2, 2026, to respond to the allegations but failed to honour the invitation. She reportedly claimed, through her lawyer, that she was medically indisposed and submitted a medical report in support of the claim.

However, the police disclosed that discreet investigations later revealed that the medical report was false. The doctor who issued the report was arrested and allegedly confessed that the document was fabricated at the instruction of the suspect after a phone conversation facilitated by her lawyer.

The doctor has since been arraigned before a Magistrates’ Court on charges including conspiracy, uttering a false document and obstruction of justice.

The police further noted that Onajobi has remained evasive, ignored subsequent invitations and that her current whereabouts are unknown. The command affirmed that efforts are being intensified to apprehend her and ensure she is brought before the court to answer the charges already filed.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babas eyi, reiterated that the command remained committed to tackling all forms of crime, including digital offences, while stressing that although freedom of expression is constitutionally guaranteed, it does not confer immunity from criminal liability.
