Ogun Police arrest man for brutal assault on three-year-old son

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a commercial motorcycle operator, Adekunle Odukaye, for physically assaulting his three-year-old son, Boluwatife Odukaye, in a case that has sparked public outrage.

Odukaye, a resident of Oke Baale, Ado Odo Ota, was taken into custody after a viral video surfaced on February 28, 2025, showing a man brutally kicking and maltreating a minor.

The disturbing footage prompted swift action from the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, who immediately ordered an investigation into the incident.

Acting on the directive, officers from the Sango Ota Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended Odukaye, who later confirmed during interrogation that he was the biological father of the child seen in the video.

In collaboration with medical professionals, the police ensured Boluwatife underwent a thorough medical examination, including a head scan and bone X-rays at a reputable hospital in Ikeja, Lagos, to assess any internal injuries resulting from the abuse.

While Odukaye has been subjected to a clinical evaluation, with experts recommending therapeutic treatment and rehabilitation, the police command has assured the public that upon the conclusion of its investigation, the suspect will be charged in court to face prosecution.

Reacting to the incident, the Ogun State Police Command reiterated its commitment to justice and the protection of vulnerable individuals. It urged members of the public to remain calm and allow due legal processes to take their course.

“The Command remains firm in its zero-tolerance stance against child abuse, domestic violence, and all forms of cruelty to minors,” said CSP Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer.

The police further assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure Boluwatife’s safety and well-being while reaffirming their commitment to upholding justice and safeguarding the rights of children in society.
