Ogun Police investigate viral assault video, arraign monarch

A viral video showing an elderly man, Mr. Areola Abraham, being verbally abused and assaulted by Oba Abdulsemiu Adewale Ogunjobi, the Olorile of Orile Ifo, has prompted the Ogun State Police Command to launch a discreet investigation into the incident.

In response to public outcry, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered a thorough inquiry, emphasizing the command’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and protecting fundamental human rights.

Both parties involved have provided statements at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran.

Condemning any form of assault and harassment, the Ogun Police Command assured the public that justice would be served and promised to keep citizens informed of further developments.

Following the investigation, Oba Abdulsemiu Ogunjobi was arraigned on February 4, 2025, before the Ifo Magistrate Court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace.

The case has been adjourned to March 6, 2025, while security operatives continue their efforts to apprehend Olukosi and other suspects still at large.
