Ogun Police launch Gateway Shield app to enhance community safety, intelligence sharing
The Ogun State Police Command has unveiled a new Community Safety and Intelligence Platform known as the Gateway Shield App, designed to strengthen rapid response, public engagement, and real-time crime reporting across the state.
The initiative was introduced under the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, PhD, who in 2024 commissioned the modern Ogun State Police Headquarters and pledged to make the Command a hub for smart policing technologies.
The innovative platform, which includes a toll-free number (08000009111) directly linked to the Ogun State Police Command Cyber Center, allows residents to contact the police swiftly—especially in situations where reaching a nearby station may be difficult.
Through the Gateway Shield app, members of the public can instantly report emergencies, potential threats, or suspicious activities. Once received, the Cyber Center processes complaints and routes them to the nearest Divisional Police Officer or tactical unit for immediate response.
The platform can be accessed via:
Website: gatewayshield.com
Mobile App: GatewayShield (available free on Play Store)
Toll-Free Number: 08000009111 — with bilingual agents available 24/7 to assist callers.
Powered by a round-the-clock solar energy system, the Cyber Center operates with a dedicated IT police team working in three shifts to ensure continuous service delivery.
The police further urged residents to make full use of the Gateway Shield platform for incident reporting, criminal tracking, and general security monitoring, noting that the platform serves as Ogun State’s official community safety and intelligence network.
