Ogun State Police Command decorates newly promoted officers

The Ogun State Police Command has celebrated the promotion of sixteen Chief Superintendents of Police (CSP) with a decoration ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

The event, which took place on the 26th of September, 2024, was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha, alongside his management team during the monthly mess gathering.

The ceremony, attended by families, admirers, and members of the press, saw the decorated officers elevated to the prestigious rank of Chief Superintendent of Police. This rank, often referred to as the “federal chief” in popular parlance, marks a significant milestone in an officer’s career and is reserved for those who have demonstrated exceptional competence, intelligence, and dedication to duty.

Among the newly promoted officers were CSP Salami Moruf Akanbi, who leads the SWAT tactical team, as well as CSPs Taiwo Opadiran, Fatoberu Oyekanmi, Thomas Udegbo, Edward Okosun, Anthony Omotosho, Femi James Ekemode, and Sani Kehinde.

During his address, CP Alamutu Abiodun Mustapha reminded the newly promoted officers of the evolving nature of crime and the critical role of information technology in modern law enforcement.

He urged them to enhance their skills through continuous education and training, emphasizing that inefficiency and ineptitude would not be tolerated.

“You are now entrusted with greater responsibilities. It is crucial to improve yourselves by embracing education and advanced training. Technology is changing the way crimes are committed, and we must keep up to combat these new challenges effectively,” CP Mustapha stated.

He also highlighted the importance of professionalism, integrity, and respect for the rule of law and human rights as the officers transition into their new roles.

Responding on behalf of his colleagues, CSP Salami Moruf Akanbi expressed their gratitude for the recognition and pledged their unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property in strict adherence to the Police Act.

The ceremony marked a proud moment for the Ogun State Police Command, as the officers geared up for a higher level of service delivery in their fight against crime and efforts to maintain peace and security across the state.
