Ogun takes the lead, asks appointees with electoral ambition to resign

The Ogun State Government has directed all political appointees interested in contesting for political positions in the 2023 elections to resign before March 24.
This was contained in a statement by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Tokunbo Talabi.
Talabi said the directive was in compliance with the new electoral act recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“In compliance with the rules and regulations guiding political appointees and the provisions of Election Guidelines as released by the Independent L 17 6 5 National Electoral Commission (INEC) on 25 February, 2022 tagged Timetable and Schedule of Activities for 2023 General Election, please be informed that all political appointees in this Administration aspiring for political offices should indicate their disposition by registering their intention at the Special Desk created in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government before close of work on Wednesday, 24 March 2022.
“All aspirants are to wait further directives on the way forward.
” Please comply with the content of this circular and give it the widest publicity it deserves,” the statement read.
