Youths from the Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) on Tuesday presented the first harvest from their hydroponics farm to the chairman, Hon. David Olusegun Odunmbaku. The presentation followed their completion of the Soilless Farming Training Programme at the renowned Soilless FarmLab, an initiative sponsored by the chairman as part of his youth empowerment agenda.
The produce showcased included premium yellow, red and green bell peppers, habanero peppers and cucumbers, all cultivated through advanced soilless and hydroponic techniques. The youths expressed appreciation to the chairman for investing in their agricultural training and creating new opportunities for growth and empowerment.
In his remarks, Hon. Odunmbaku commended the participants for their commitment and the impressive results of their training, stating that their success demonstrates the council’s dedication to promoting innovation, food security and economic advancement within Ojodu LCDA.
He further assured the young agripreneurs and their facilitator, Akin Alabi, of continued support, noting that they would be integrated into the Ojodu Food Mart initiative to ensure access to viable market channels for their produce.
Odunmbaku also pledged additional financial and technical assistance, along with inclusion in forthcoming agricultural programmes aimed at encouraging youth involvement in modern farming practices.
