The Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Andrew Ogunsakin, has condemned the alleged harassment of Fuji icon Abbas Akande Obesere and members of his team at the Government Field in Okitipupa.

Ogunsakin, in a statement obtained by WESTERN POST on Saturday, described the development as disappointing and said it did not represent the character of the Ikale people.

He said, “I received the news of the unfortunate mistreatment meted out to Abbas Akande Obesere and his team yesterday at the Government Field, Okitipupa, with deep disappointment and utmost distaste. This incident is unacceptable and does not reflect the values we uphold as a people.”

The chairman assured residents that steps were being taken to address the situation and forestall any repeat.

He added that his administration would continue to ensure a safe space for artists and visitors.

He said, “I want to assure the public that the necessary steps will be taken to address this matter and to prevent such occurrences in the future, whether toward artists, celebrities, entertainers, or any individual visiting or residing in our local government.”

Ogunsakin also disclosed that he would personally reach out to Obesere to express regret over the incident and to clarify the circumstances surrounding it.

He restated the council’s zero tolerance for hooliganism, saying Ikale land and Okitipupa remained peaceful and welcoming communities.
