Okpebholo urges parents to play greater roles in children’s upbringing

The governor of Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has called on the parents and guardians to play greater roles in their children’s upbringing, especially in dissuading them from joining cult groups. 

Okpebholo said this in his message on the 2025 Children’s Day celebration. 

“His Excellency, Governor Monday Okpebholo, extends warm felicitations to all children in Edo State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Children’s Day. The Governor, in a statement, urged parents and guardians to dissuade their children from joining cult groups,” a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, read.

Okpebholo urged parents, guardians, teachers, and all stakeholders to continue to play their crucial roles in guiding and mentoring children, instilling in them sound values, and encouraging them to pursue their aspirations.

The Edo governor said his administration is committed to ensuring the well-being of children by providing them with quality education and creating an environment where they can thrive and realize their full potential.

“Our children are our most precious assets. Their dreams are the blueprints for a brighter future for Edo State. As an administration, we are fully dedicated to investing in their development, protecting their rights, and nurturing their talents,” Okpebholo said.

He listed several measures by his government targeted at improving the lives of Edo children. Some of them include more investment in education, protection of child rights, among others.
