Olopade hails NBBF President on appointment as NNPC Chairman

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Honourable Bukola Olopade, has congratulated the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), Engineer Musa Kida, on his appointment as the new Board Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Olopade described Kida as one of Nigeria’s most efficient and productive sports administrators, commending his dedication and sacrifices for the growth of Nigerian basketball.

He noted that Kida’s appointment is a testament to his years of passion, hard work, and a successful track record in the oil sector spanning over two decades.

“Engineer Musa Kida is an accomplished administrator whose achievements extend across both the oil sector and Nigerian basketball. I have no doubt that NNPC Limited will attain greater efficiency and attract more investment under his leadership,” Olopade stated.

“Under his leadership as the President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, we have witnessed steady growth in the country’s basketball development, with national teams reaching new heights.

“At the last Olympic Games, the Nigerian women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, was one of the standout performers for Team Nigeria, setting a new record by advancing to the knockout stage before facing the United States.”

Olopade acknowledged Kida’s behind-the-scenes efforts in securing Nigeria’s success in global basketball, emphasizing that the women’s team has dominated the African scene for years.

He expressed confidence that Kida would leverage his new position to further drive the development of Nigerian sports, particularly basketball, at a time when the country is focusing on building a sustainable sports economy.
