Olowu of Owu, wife honoured at Lagos SWAN United Nations Day commemoration

The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, on Tuesday, joined dignitaries and stakeholders at the Lagos SWAN United Nations Day celebration, held in commemoration of the United Nations World Nutrition Month.

The event, organised by the Lagos chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in collaboration with the Pan African American Chamber of Commerce (PAACC) and the Defence Headquarters, highlighted “Food Security and Sports Diplomacy” as pivotal instruments for promoting peace, security, and sustainable development through sports.

In a major highlight of the event, Olori Ambassador Adijat Matemilola was formally decorated and conferred with the title of Distinguished Sports Diplomacy, Culture & Tourism Ambassador and Royal Matron.

The honour, presented under the auspices of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), Zurich, Switzerland, and Lagos SWAN, recognises Olori Matemilola’s outstanding contributions to community development, child welfare, and humanitarian service.

Her consistent advocacy and philanthropic efforts have continued to inspire positive change across various sectors, further strengthening her legacy in sports diplomacy and cultural advancement.
