Olubadan calls for vigilance across Yorubaland as insecurity rises nationwide

The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has called on Yoruba people to remain vigilant as Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges.

The monarch made the call at the weekend during the annual Ode-Omu Day celebration in Ode-Omu, Osun State. His remarks were contained in a statement issued on Sunday by his media aide, Adeola Oloko, in Ibadan.

Ode-Omu Day is a yearly event during which residents review community development efforts and plan for future projects. Oba Ladoja commended the community’s commitment to development under the leadership of the Alaye of Ode-Omu, Oba Bolarinwa Oladipupo.

The Olubadan also pledged continued support from Ibadan for the progress of Ode-Omu, announcing that Chief Tunde Afolabi, the Parakoyi of Ibadanland, would chair next year’s edition of the celebration.

Earlier in the programme, former Minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan, told the gathering that Ibadan warriors settled the Ode-Omu community at its present location in 1909.

He commended the royal fathers in attendance, particularly the Olubadan, for honouring the occasion with their presence.

Members of the Olubadan-in-Council present included the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; the Osi Olubadan, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi; and High Chief Sharafadeen Alli, Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland and senator representing Oyo South.

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, was represented by the Salu of Edunabon, Oba Kehinde Oladepo, while the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Francis Adedoyin, and his chiefs were also in attendance.
