The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja, has expressed concern over the rising cases of kidnapping and other violent crimes across Nigeria, describing the situation as disturbing and alarming.
The monarch made the remarks on Monday during the installation of Mogajis and Baales at the Olubadan Palace in Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
At the ceremony, 14 Mogajis representing different families and seven Baales from various villages were officially installed in the presence of members of the Olubadan-in-Council and other dignitaries.
Speaking through the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, the monarch lamented the growing wave of insecurity, including kidnapping, killings and violent attacks across the country.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Ayoade, the traditional ruler urged governments at all levels, traditional rulers and other stakeholders to take urgent steps toward addressing the worsening security situation.
In the same vein, the Olubadan also appealed to the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde and local government authorities in Oyo State to begin proper profiling of foreigners entering the state.
According to him, such measures would help security agencies monitor movement and identify individuals entering or leaving the state at any given time.
“It is worrisome the alarming rate at which people are being kidnapped, terrorized, maimed and killed nowadays,” the monarch said.
