The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has dismissed reports of a rift between him and Seyi Makinde, affirming that he remains in good health and is actively carrying out his duties in Ibadan.

In a statement issued by the Olubadan Palace on Thursday, the monarch clarified that he did not travel out of Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 3, explaining that the three High Chiefs slated for coronation had formally requested a postponement due to their unavailability.

The request, according to the statement, was communicated to the state government through the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, stressing that there is no disagreement between the Olubadan and the governor, assuring residents that the monarch remains hale and hearty.

The statement read, “The attention of His Imperial Majesty has been drawn to trending news that there is a rift between the Governor and Kabiyesi.

“We wish to make it abundantly clear that there is no rift between Kabiyesi and the Governor. In addition, the Olubadan did not travel out of Ibadan to avoid the coronation ceremony slated for Friday, April 3.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the three concerned High Chiefs due to be coronated have formally informed the Olubadan that they would be unavailable and have therefore asked for postponement. This information has been duly communicated to the State Government.”

The clarification comes amid growing speculation over the planned coronation for gubernatorial aspirant, Sharafadeen Ali and other chiefs in Ibadan.
