The Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has commenced the mandatory traditional rites in preparation for his official coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The week-long coronation programme began on Monday with interdenominational prayers and is expected to culminate on Friday with the formal presentation of the Staff of Office and other instruments of authority.
In line with tradition, Oba Ladoja has suspended receiving visitors to allow for the completion of the sacred rites, a close source disclosed to Western Post.
As part of the coronation activities, a Cultural Day celebration was held at the Olubadan Stadium on Tuesday, where residents and visitors were treated to local delicacies such as akara and ojojo.
Organisers said the event aimed to showcase Ibadan’s rich cultural heritage and revive local traditions for the younger generation.
With the rites underway, Ibadanland is now set to usher in Oba Rasidi Ladoja as its next paramount ruler at the grand ceremony on Friday.
