Olubadan elevates Sharafadeen Alli, five others in the Balogun chieftaincy line
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Akinloye Olakulehin on Friday, elevated six chiefs in the Balogun chieftaincy line, including the Senator representing Ibadan South in the Senate, Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli.
The Oluwo of Ibadanland performed the chieftaincy rites at the event, held at the Oke Aremo Palace.
Those elevated are Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola from Otun Balogun to Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Kolawole Adegbola moved from Asipa Balogun to Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba John Olubunmi Isioye-Dada formerly Ekerin Balogun to Osi Balogun of Ibadanland and Oba Dauda Abiodun Azeez from Ekarun Balogun to Asipa Balogun of Ibadanland.
Senior Chief Akeem Bolaji Adewoyin, the Abese Balogun is now Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland while High Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Maye Balogun is now the Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland.
The Ibadan chieftaincy system comprises the Otun (civilian) line and Balogun (military) line. Only Ibadan chiefs on the two chieftaincy line can move up the ladder and ascend the throne of the Olubadan in the hierarchical rotational chieftaincy arrangement.
The current Olubadan emerged from the Balogun line.
