The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, has suspended two family chiefs known as Mogajis.
The affected chiefs are Mogaji Kamorudeen Kolawole of the Kukula family at Oke-Ofa Baba Isale in Ibadan North East Local Government Area, and Mogaji Samsudeen Bello of the Ekerin Ajengbe family at Isale Osi in Ibadan South West Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The suspension, announced during the Olubadan Land Matters Committee meeting held at the Old Olubadan Palace, Oja Oba, Ibadan, was conveyed by the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Senator Rasidi Ladoja.
“Your suspension order is indefinite until you retrace your steps and do the needful,” the statement read.
The Olubadan also condemned the nonchalant attitude of some Mogajis and Baales who ignored invitations from the Olubadanland Land Matters Committee.
“You have been warned repeatedly to desist from any acts that can tarnish the reputation and image of the Olubadan and Ibadanland, such as land grabbing, trespassing, forceful land acquisition, and oppression of your family members and other residents in your domain,” the monarch reiterated.
He further called on law enforcement agencies to apprehend any suspended traditional ruler parading themselves as legitimate chiefs in defiance of the sanctions imposed by His Imperial Majesty.
The Olubadan emphasized that absentee traditional title holders would henceforth lose their titles, as such absence would be viewed as insubordination to constituted authority.
