Oluremi Tinubu attends global summit of First Ladies in Washington

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, on Wednesday joined First Ladies from 44 countries at the Fostering the Future Together Summit hosted by United States First Lady, Melania Trump, at the White House in Washington, D.C..

The summit, described as the largest international gathering of its kind hosted by a U.S. First Lady at the White House in a single day, brought together spouses of world leaders to discuss collaborative efforts toward improving the future of children and young people globally.

The high-level meeting, held on March 25, 2026, focused on key areas including education, child protection, healthcare and youth empowerment, with participants exploring strategies for stronger global partnerships.

In her remarks, Mrs Trump called for increased global cooperation, urging leaders to strengthen alliances aimed at improving opportunities for children. She encouraged participating countries to organise regional engagements, promote research collaboration and develop partnerships to equip young people with skills needed in a rapidly changing world.

She also highlighted the need for innovative programmes, supportive education policies, technology-driven legislation and stronger public-private sector collaboration to advance youth development.

The event attracted First Ladies from Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, as well as representatives of major technology companies including Microsoft, Google and OpenAI. Discussions during closed-door sessions covered artificial intelligence in education, digital learning tools, digital literacy and online safety.

Mrs Trump had earlier introduced the Fostering the Future Together initiative during the United Nations General Assembly, noting that the coalition aims to ensure that children worldwide can thrive in the digital age.
