Oluremi Tinubu calls for stronger action against malaria

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has called for renewed commitment to strengthening malaria prevention and ensuring equitable access to treatment across the country.
In her message on Saturday, to mark World Malaria Day 2026, Tinubu said Nigeria must remain committed to ending malaria and protecting the health of all citizens, particularly the most vulnerable.
“Today, on World Malaria Day, we reaffirm our commitment to ending malaria and protecting the health of every individual,” she said.
She noted that the 2026 theme, “United Against Malaria,” underscores the need for sustained collaboration, increased domestic investment, and innovative approaches to address challenges such as drug resistance and unequal access to healthcare.
“Let us strengthen prevention efforts, support life-saving interventions, and ensure that every community, especially the most vulnerable, has access to the materials needed to prevent and treat malaria,” the First Lady stated.
She added that a united approach remains critical to achieving lasting progress in the fight against the disease.
“When we stand united, we can achieve a malaria-free world,” she said.
The First Lady also extended World Malaria Day greetings to Nigerians, reaffirming her support for ongoing national and global efforts to eliminate malaria.
