Oluremi Tinubu cautions Ondo women against selling empowerment tools

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged women in Ondo State who benefited from her empowerment scheme not to sell the items distributed to them for quick financial gains.
Through her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), the First Lady empowered 500 women across the 18 local government areas of the state with deep freezers, maxi gas cookers with ovens, generators, and industrial grinding machines.
Speaking during the distribution exercise held at the Arcade Ground in Akure, Mrs. Tinubu, represented by the Ondo State First Lady, Mrs. Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, said the programme was designed to promote self-reliance and business growth.
“We will follow up to ensure these items are properly utilized. Please, don’t sell them,” she cautioned.
According to her, the initiative, which is in its second phase in Ondo State, was borne out of a commitment to reduce poverty, support entrepreneurship, and strengthen the role of women in national development.
She added that 18,500 women across Nigeria would benefit from the scheme.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Mrs. Adejoke Adefulire, represented by Dr. Ifeyinwa Nnamchi-Ukaegbu, lauded the programme as a bold step towards unlocking women’s economic potential nationwide.
On her part, the Ondo State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye, described the initiative as unprecedented, noting that it would make women at the grassroots economically viable and independent while ensuring they fulfil their potential.
