Oluremi Tinubu empowers 1,000 petty traders in Oyo with cash grants

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has empowered 1,000 petty traders in Oyo State with cash grants through the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) economic empowerment and recapitalisation programme.

The grants were presented on Thursday in Ibadan by the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Mrs. Tamunomini Makinde, on behalf of the First Lady.

Senator Tinubu said the initiative was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to provide immediate relief and long-term economic empowerment to families across Nigeria.

She described the programme as a demonstration of care, compassion, and commitment to improving the lives of Nigerians, especially the economically vulnerable.

“The greatest investment is in people. Inclusive economic empowerment is essential to achieving sustainable development and a truly renewed Nigeria,” Tinubu said.

She noted that although the grants may seem small, they could serve as vital support for small businesses, school fees, medical bills, or other essential needs.

The First Lady urged beneficiaries to use the funds wisely, emphasizing that the grants should be viewed as a starting point to greater financial stability and opportunity.

“Let it be a beginning, not an end,” she said, while commending the RHI team for making the initiative a reality.
