Oluremi Tinubu hails humanitarian workers, calls for global support

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has commended humanitarian workers for their courage, dedication and selfless service to people affected by conflicts, disasters and other emergencies.

Tinubu, in a message to mark the 2026 World Humanitarian Day on Wednesday, said humanitarian workers continued to bring hope and relief to vulnerable communities despite the challenges associated with their work.

The 2026 commemoration is themed, “Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities.”

According to the First Lady, the theme underscores the need to protect humanitarian workers while strengthening global solidarity and empowering local communities to take the lead in developing sustainable responses to crises.

“This year’s theme reminds us that lasting humanitarian action depends on protecting aid workers, strengthening global solidarity, and empowering local communities to lead sustainable responses to crises,” she said.

Tinubu urged Nigerians and the international community to sustain compassion and collective action in support of people affected by humanitarian crises.

“Let us continue to stand together in compassion, uphold the dignity of every human life, and support those who work tirelessly to serve the vulnerable,” she added.

She also wished humanitarian workers a happy World Humanitarian Day and commended their continued commitment to serving communities in need.
