First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has joined the global community to commemorate the United Nations Day for the Prevention of, and Healing from, Child Sexual Exploitation, Abuse, and Violence, observed annually on November 18.

In a statement released on Sunday, the First Lady highlighted the significance of the day in addressing critical issues such as child sexual exploitation, abuse, labor, trafficking, and violence.

She condemned these acts as severe crimes that rob children of their potential and violate the essence of humanity. “It is our collective responsibility to ensure every child grows up in an environment that is safe, nurturing, and free from harm,” she stated, urging Nigerians to report cases of child abuse to the appropriate authorities.

Senator Tinubu emphasized the importance of the UN Day, describing it as more than a symbolic observance. “It is a call to action—a promise to children everywhere that we will stand for their rights and safeguard their well-being,” she said.

She further emphasized that harm inflicted on a child strikes at the heart of society’s humanity.

As the world observes this day, the First Lady called for vigilance, compassion, and united efforts to protect children and secure a safer future for them. “God bless our children,” she concluded.
