Oluremi Tinubu seeks stronger Nigeria-Qatar partnership on tourism, education

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, has called for greater investment in the country’s tourism sector, describing it as a major source of employment and economic growth.

Speaking on Tuesday while receiving Yousef Bin Mohammed Al-Hail at the State House in Abuja, the First Lady urged Nigerians, particularly young people, to explore the country’s rich cultural and natural attractions.

She said Nigeria had yet to fully harness its tourism potential despite its diverse heritage and hospitality.

“We have not really explored the nation optimally. Our tourism sector remains our strong point. It gives employment. Look at our food, culture. We are a friendly people,” she said.

Mrs Tinubu said although Nigeria faces challenges, the country remains on the path to progress under the leadership of Bola Tinubu.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is doing all he can. We are undaunted and indeed the nation will be great again,” she added.

The First Lady also commended Sheikha Moza bint Nasser for her support for African countries and expressed appreciation for the partnership between Nigeria and Qatar, particularly in the education sector.

She noted that the Federal Ministry of Education had provided positive feedback on ongoing collaboration with the Qatari government to tackle the challenge of out-of-school children in Nigeria.

In his remarks, Ambassador Al-Hail said his perception of Nigeria had changed significantly since assuming duty, noting that negative narratives on social media did not reflect the reality of the country.
