Oluremi Tinubu urges inclusive rural development on World Rural Development Day

As the world marks World Rural Development Day 2025, First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called for a united national effort to ensure that no community is left behind in the quest for a stronger, more resilient country.

In a message commemorating the day, which has the theme “Rural Development: Resilience to Global Change,” the First Lady highlighted the crucial role of rural communities in national progress and stability.

“Rural communities are the bedrock upon which lasting national development is built,” she said, stressing the need for inclusive policies and targeted investments that empower rural populations to face growing global challenges.

Mrs. Tinubu noted that rural areas bear a significant portion of the burden from climate change, economic instability, and communal conflicts, yet they remain key to unlocking Nigeria’s development potential.

“Let us work together to ensure that no community is left behind as we build a stronger, more resilient Nigeria,” she urged in a heartfelt appeal to citizens, government institutions, development partners, and civil society.

Her remarks come at a time when rural development has become a critical pillar of Nigeria’s long-term strategy to reduce poverty, enhance food security, and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

The First Lady’s message resonates with ongoing federal efforts to expand access to infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agricultural support in Nigeria’s underserved rural regions.
